SOUND ART / RESONANCE ECOLOGY / EXPERIMENTAL PERFORMANCE

ISPOD BINE is a platform for sound art, experimental music and situated listening, founded in Split by Natasha Kadin and Hrvoje Pelicarić.

The first festival took place in 2016 beneath the main stage of the amphitheatre at Dom mladih. Its name, meaning “below the stage”, comes from that space: a place where the usual relationship between performer, audience and architecture could be rearranged.

Across ten festival editions, ISPOD BINE brought together sound installations, improvisation, audiovisual performance, workshops and artistic research. The programme connected artists from Croatia and abroad with the independent scene in Split.

How we work

We approach sound as a physical and social material. A room, a body, an island or a sound system changes what can be heard and how people listen together. Our work moves between field recording, spatial composition, low-frequency sound and collective experimentation.

Following the tenth festival edition in 2025, we are developing a year-round platform connecting Zadar, Split, Zagreb and Silba. Resonance Ecology, PNEUMATIKA and Soundscapes of Tomorrow frame different strands of this work. Future programmes are presented as in development until confirmed.
